“The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.” Lamentations 3:25
How many of us have been patiently (or impatiently) waiting for our harvest season? We continuously put in the hard work and are longing to see the fruits of our labor. We put our trust in the Lord and wait for the day that His blessings will overflow our life. Or like many of us, just choose to take matters into our own hands, either by starting something too early, (which can cause us to lose it at the end), or go into something we are ultimately not ready for.
I’m Guilty
I am certainly guilty of entering something that I was really not ready for. Yet God in His mercy always redeems and always purposes things for His good. As I walk through this journey with God, God just continues to reveal what He really is trying to accomplish in the life of His children. In fact, God has turned the way I see and think, upside down. He has shown me that what He is looking for, is not what I do on the outside, but who I am on the inside. A heart that wants what He wants, that breaks for what breaks His, what loves what He loves. A heart after His own heart, “for the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart.” 1 Samuel 13:14b. He is seeking men and women who are willing to put their ego (flesh) aside and bow in reverence to His Will.
Do not be deceived!
Although the world looks to be superficially impressed by people by their titles, degrees, wealth, and outward appearance, God is not impressed by these things. Things that hold temporal successes and not true longevity. Now, I am not saying it’s wrong to acquire degrees or hold promotional titles. I am just focusing on how important it is for God to grow us spiritually. God is in the business of building His character in us so that we can learn to rely on Him in our hard battles. He wants to build and grow us in private, even from our own home, so He can then be reflected in public.
What does your private life consist of?
So, is what we’re doing in private, when no one is watching, reflecting God’s heart? Are we building our walk and our relationship with Christ, when no one is looking? Are we longing after God in our private lives? Do our homes reflect Him? Or are we just putting on a “false person” in order to impress those watching? Are we searching for God just for our own gain? This is something that I certainly reflect on often. Our hearts can certainly deceive us.
There is always hope…
Yet let us all pray for His leadership and His will to be done in our lives. Let us pray to be holy as He is holy. To wait on His time and to love as He loves. Let us yearn for His heart. All while we wait.
“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.“
Matthew 6:6
Love you all.
